Lloyds Hair Supreme TeamWaterford salon Lloyds Hair has been named Ireland's SUPREME TEAM at top UK and Ireland hairdressing competition, Most Wanted.

Presented by Creative HEAD magazine, Most Wanted recognises the very best salons, teams and individuals in Irish and UK hairdressing.  The SUPREME TEAM award is given to an Irish salon that demonstrates teamwork at its best.

The Lloyds entry impressed the judges, including Alexa Chung's hairdresser George Northwood and top beauty journalist Alice Hart-Davis, who loved the management style displayed by owner Danielle Kennedy, including an ethos of 'catching people doing things right' and initiatives like Breast Cancer fundraising and the team being tasked to pay 10 compliments per day.

The team was honoured at the annual Creative HEAD Most Wanted Grand Final, held on Monday 4 September 2017 at London's historic Guildhall. Hosted by Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan, the awards were attended by a 600-strong A-List crowd of people from the hair, fashion and media industries, who gathered to see the 15 Most Wanted trophies presented.

Along with their Most Wanted trophy, Lloyds has won an exclusive prize, courtesy of category sponsor L'Oréal Professionnel, and publicity in Creative HEAD Magazine for their winning year.

“It’s amazing! This is the most important award that we’ve every actually gone for, it’s for the team, this is their award and I couldn’t be more proud,” said salon owner Danielle Kennedy.

"It was clear from the judges' comments that the team at Lloyds Hair is extremely professional and all team members love what they do," commented Catherine Handcock, publisher of Creative HEAD. "They not only pull together to create an amazing experience for their customers in Waterford, but they are also contributing enormously to the local community. Creative HEAD loves being able to put the spotlight on committed salons like Lloyds, and this award proves they are amongst the very best in the country."

AQFS 50 Years

Ardkeen Quality Food Store are celebrating 50 years of retail with an instore birthday party on Saturday the 16th of September from 12 noon to 5pm.

Enjoy a FREE BBQ, lots of family fun and music and of course an opportunity to sample many of their wonderful small batch suppliers.

Ardkeen QFS Theatre of Food 2017

Electric Picnic is an annual arts and music festival which has been staged since 2004 at Stradbally Hall in Stradbally, Co. Laois. Originally a 1-day event with 10,000 attendees the festival has grown exponentially the last 13 years to now hosting 55,000 people over a three-day weekend.

An eclectic mix of music, cookery demos, tastings, workshops and discussions, The Theatre of Food Marquee is the flagship of food at the festival. The brainchild of John & Sally McKenna, this year yet again ToF attracted an impressive list of luminaries from the Irish food community including Darina Allen, Rory O’Connell, JP McMahon, Gary O’Hanlon and Rosanna Davidson.

For the third year running Ardkeen Quality Food Store were invited to provision the ingredients for Theatre of Food, bringing the very best of Ireland’s artisan and craft food producers to the stage and to the attention of some of Ireland's top chefs.

Colin & Kevin Jephson even took to the stage with fellow Waterfordians and chefs Michael Quinn and Paul Flynn (The Tannery). Paul was intrigued as to how a small independent store could have thrived let alone survive for 50 years in the midst of international retail giants.

The Jephson’s cited strong relationships and a commitment to quality as the reason behind the longevity and success of Ardkeen which boasts both customers and suppliers who are 2nd and 3rd generation.

Michael Quinn was keen to point out provenance also played an important role, reinforced appropriately by cooking a recipe which included fine Irish producers like Rings Farm, Highbank Orchard, O’Neill’s Bacon and Wexford potatoes.
