Free Smovey class for Chamber members

Smovey 1

Smovey 2

New Waterford Chamber member Irene Treacy is helping the people of Waterford to put their health in their own hands and offering a FREE SMOVEY CLASS to all Chamber members.

"Smovey" offers people the opportunity to increase their level of fitness and mobility as well as toning their body by working out with these light exercise rings. Irene was first introduced to this unique exercise and Physiotherpists tool while living in Lanzarote and was so impressed by them she trained to become a smovey coach and set up classes in Lanzarote.

The classes were so successful and with huge interest from the Irish market in particular, Irene decided to move home in July and became the sole agent for "Smovey Ireland" where she now has 9 licensed partners working with her around the country and in the UK.

Irene says: "I grew up in the hotel industry and always been working crazy hours, weekends etc in not such a healthy environment. I went to Austria to train to become a smovey coach and can't believe the difference it has made to my life. I've a completely different lifestyle than before and I couldn't be happier now."

Through movement, smovey exercise rings create vibrations through your body, keeping your muscles and cells active plus reducing stress and strains across your shoulder and back. The light resistance training can help make a difference in your life, regardless of whether you're looking to increase your level of fitness or help with your general mobility.

Classes every Tuesday and Thursday in Splashworld Tramore.

Exclusive Chamber offer: email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for a FREE CLASS voucher so you can experience these wonderful tools for yourself.

For further information on smovey and classes or if you've interest in becoming a smovey coach visit or contact Irene 089 2422120.

Theatre Royal upcoming events 1

We are delighted to feature Theatre Royal Waterford as our #BizOfTheWeek.

In the 220 years since the establishment of the Georgian playhouse, which was subsequently adapted in the late nineteenth century to the Theatre Royal we know today, Waterford has been renowned for its local musical and dramatic traditions.

The Theatre Royal, often referred to as “The People’s Theatre”, has been the traditional venue for this creative activity down through the generations. The coming months see an interesting mix of entertainment to suit all tastes and the stunning venue is also available for corporate functions throughout the year.

Bank of Ireland Ardkeen Enterprise Village

Bank of Ireland was the proud organiser of the Ardkeen Enterprise Village, held over two days on Friday and Saturday last. The event was officially opened by Major Adam Wyse, with Laurent Borla, representing Waterford Chamber of Commerce in his capacity as President.

In total 140 businesses and organisations took part in the event to exhibit, network and celebrate all things Ardkeen. On behalf of Bank of Ireland, Head of County Waterford, Pamela Pim and Paul Muldowney, Branch Manager in Ardkeen said they were delighted to work with all of the exhibitors, speakers and participants who used the opportunity to showcase the best of what is on offer locally and from around County Waterford.

The local community and the Enterprise Town Committee embraced the initiative wholeheartedly and a very exciting programme of activity was organised with something for people of all ages and interests. Over the two days, the venue was full to capacity and it was a fantastic opportunity to see the level of enterprise that exists in Ardkeen.

Each Enterprise Town also has the option to undertake a fundraising drive for a local cause. In Ardkeen the Bunny Fun Run raised €500 for the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation which included donations being matched by Bank of Ireland through its ‘Give Together’ charity and community initiative.

Testimonial from Aidan McAvinue, Chartered Accountants & Registered Auditors, Ardkeen: “This was a great event to showcase our firm and our people to the community we live in and at the same time to get to meet lots of people and organisations in our local community. Well done to all in Bank of Ireland in bringing the Enterprise Village concept to Ardkeen.  It was one of the most successful events we have been involved with.”

Testimonial from Jason King, Event Organiser for Fun Run: “On behalf of the Bunny Fun Run in aid of the Children's Medical and Research Foundation we would like to thank Bank of Ireland for hosting the Enterprise Village event.  A very welcoming enjoyable experience was had by the Bunny Fun Run team on the day. A super way to bring businesses, communities and charities together under one roof. Thank you so much for your kind donation to our charity, we look forward to supporting your event again in the future."

Space allowing:

In 2017 Bank of Ireland Enterprise Towns will run in over 120 communities nationwide, representing an investment of €1.2 million in the programme. 10,000 exhibitors are participating including businesses, sports clubs, schools and community groups and an estimated 110,000 connections between businesses and customers will be made.
