Award-winning Waterford content creation company Nemeton TV have secured a three-year contract with Croke Park to operate and create content for the big screens during match days.
The hugely successful company, based in An Rinn, best known for broadcasting over 400 hours of sporting action to a global audience annually, has successfully expanded in recent years to create online and big screen content.
Supplying the screen entertainment in the country’s biggest and best known stadium further cements their reputation as the leading provider of sports content in the country.
Senior Producer with Nemeton TV Fintan Walsh explains what the new contract entails. "We are hugely excited to become such an integral part of the match-day experience, in a venue that is very close to our hearts. Even after all this time, we still get excited pulling up to Croke Park on a match day. Our crews are already there for many big days, sending footage all over the world. Now we will have a creative input into the experience for the 82,000 spectators in the stadium as well.
"We’ll be creating everything from graphics, interviews, action and of course the scoreboard on the biggest sporting days in the Irish calendar. Take All-Ireland Club Final Day on St. Patrick’s Day as an example. We will have two crews in operation – one covering the games for television and online on TG4, and a second delivering an entertaining and exciting package for the supporters in the stadium. It is a natural fit for us. Being right in the middle of the action on what are often historic days for club, county or country is where we want to be."
Congratulating Nemeton TV on the contract, Alan Gallagher, Head of Stadium Operations in Croke Park said: "Fan engagement on match days is very important to us in Croke Park as we pride ourselves on delivering memorable events for supporters both on and off the pitch. We are always looking for dynamic new ways to engage with GAA fans once they are inside the stadium and we’re investing heavily in our stadium technology and digital infrastructure to help further develop fan engagement on event days. We’d like to welcome Nemeton who are no strangers to Croke Park formally on board the Croke Park event day team and we look forward to working with them to deliver really creative, engaging content for our supporters before, during and after every match."
Year on year Nemeton’s reputation grows with award after award coming their way. 2016 was no different and the company ended the year with a big win at the Irish Sport Industry Awards, taking home the coveted title of Best Established Sport Business, while earlier in the year they brought home the gold at the All-Ireland Marketing Awards, walking away with theGnó as Gaeilge Award for the second time.

Sun Life Financial Ireland has won a national award for “Best Talent Development Initiative” for their involvement in a post-graduate programme entitled “MSc in Enterprise Software Systems”.
This program is delivered through Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) and receives support from Waterford Chamber Skillnet (WCS).
Sun Life Financial is a global company providing a broad range of protection and wealth products serving individuals, businesses and institutions, including investments, financial advice and asset management.
Established in 1998, the Sun Life Financial office in Waterford has proven to be very successful, employing 337 people (at December 31, 2016) in software development, business administration, IT security and service desk technical support.
During the Spring and Summer of 2011 Sun Life held several meetings with Waterford Chamber Skillnet (WCS) and WIT and agreed a partnership to create a unique Level 9 programme. Thanks to the hard work from all parties, the time from inception to first enrolment was only 7 months, an incredibly swift turnaround time.
The main objective of the initiative was to produce a valuable certified programme for employees that would advance their skills and move the business forward. Specifically, Sun Life set out to achieve:
- A challenging and ambitious QQI Level 9 qualification.
- Become an employer of choice by demonstrating our commitment to growing and developing employees.
- Produce a pool of talent in Waterford who are capable of delivering on Sun Life’s long term business goals.
- Develop graduates who can succeed in the business and software worlds, both of which are critical to the success of the organisation.
Employee participation is encouraged through a number of innovative support structures such as upfront funding, attendance during working hours, students setting the pace and expansive support from the company. Research findings and best practices are brought back in to Sun Life following graduation of the programme.
Kevin Fitzgerald, Director of L&D, said: “this Irish Institute of Training and Development (IITD) award recognises the innovation, value, quality and positive impact of the Masters Programme - both directly on Sun Life’s commitment to employee development and maintaining Waterford as a key location in the Sun Life global infrastructure. We very grateful to both WCS and WIT for their continued support of the programme.”

On 19th March at 11am there will an official re-launch of the bells of Christ Church Cathedral Waterford by former President of Ireland, Dr. Mary McAleese.
The bells have been silent for 18 months due to repairs and now their renewed peal will send a message of joy across the city and further afield. The bells will ring out a message of protest against the rising incidence of hate speech, racism and xenophobia, hoping to address the good in people.
Over the last number of weeks a wide range of communities and individuals have supported the appeal, from Clifden in Connemara to Thailand, from Fullarton in South Australia to Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada, from Miami to Cobh. In Waterford, the bells of Barronstand St Cathedral and St Patrick’s Methodist Church will ring simultaneously, as will all the bells of the Dublin Archdiocese.
That the peal will ring out on St. Patrick’s weekend is pertinent. On that day we remember the immigrant Patrick who brought Ireland to faith as well as the millions of Irish emigrants who sought safety and opportunity around the world. Let us mark this day by a show of solidarity with all desperately seeking welcome and new lives among us. Together through the bells our message will peal of welcome, respect and solidarity with immigrants and refugees and people made invisible in their desperation.
All are welcome to the 10 am service at which Dr. McAleese will preach, following which she will launch the bells at 11am. We hope that the name given by the people of Waterford to the bells ‘The Joy Bells’ will ring a message of kindness not hate near and fear.
Waterford Healing Arts Trust and Permanent TSB believe the artworks on display in University Hospital Waterford make it a better place for everyone and we would like you to have a say in choosing them. You are invited to go along to the corridor leading to the Outpatients Department and vote for the artist whose work you would like to see in an exhibition later in the year.
WHAT, an arts and health organisation based at University Hospital Waterford, curates a lively programme of temporary exhibitions which offer patients, staff and visitors opportunities to access diverse contemporary art.
The exhibitions also prompt conversations between patients, staff members and visitors that are beyond the medical context. According to one patient of University Hospital Waterford, ‘While struggling with illness and medication, I found the art in the corridors was a healing influence and these dashes of creativity supported me.’
Speaking at the launch of the voting process, Mark McCrory, Regional Manager of Permanent TSB said “It’s lovely to be supporting this initiative which aims to add a little extra to our local hospital. Absolutely delighted to be partnering with this project.”
Acting Arts Director Claire Meaney urges everyone to come to the ‘ballot box’. “We would like to give the choice back to the hospital community, the patients, staff and visitors as to what kind of art they would like to see in the hospital. Out of this vibrant and colourful selection of works, one artist will be given the opportunity to exhibit in this same space. So please come on and take a vote!”
Voting closes on Friday 30 March.

From Simple two user systems to complex multi-site VoIP systems with smartphone integration. Radius has the proven expertise and skills to deliver the complete Unified Communications solution.
Waterford Home Rentals needed a premier cloud telephony system to meet their expanding needs, enhance customer service and increase efficiency
With offices in several locations, Waterford home Rentals required a telephony solution that would support business growth and facilitate better control of this resource. Allied to that was a strategic business requirement to have one unified system, implemented and supported by a single vendor. Some of the key functional requirements of this system were as follows:
- Support new office expansion
- Unify communications
- Improved efficiency
- The need to be cost effective
- One provider
‘One cloud telephony solution to deliver the required results & more’
After consultation, Radius Telecom developed a tailor-made solution to meet the needs of Waterford Home Rentals. They are now serviced by a communications solution that gives them access to a host of enterprise class functionality, which will assist them in the expansion of the business. Having the following features available to their business has streamlined the entire communications process for Waterford Home Rentals and consequently for their clients.
- A single communications hub: Attending to all incoming calls and routing those calls to the correct department no matter where they’re located or what device they’re using.
- Customisable auto attendant: Calls are answered 24/7 by the system which has led to improved customer service and increased efficiency.
- Voicemail to email: The Radius Voicemail to email solution means Waterford Home Rentals staff can now have their voicemail messages emailed to them automatically, these messages can then be easily checked on a smartphone thus allowing for real-time access to Voicemail regardless of location.
- Low capital costs, low operational costs and low call costs: Cloud based software removes the need for multiple on premise PBX systems, removes 3rd party maintenance and support contracts and eliminate the requirement for line rentals.
“Having Radius Telecom completely handle our telephone communication needs is like having a dedicated telecom person on staff,” said Amy, Owner of Waterford Home Rentals. “The system is flexible, allowing us to add numbers and agent extensions in no time, while also proving to be cost effective.”
As a business that is focused on client satisfaction, it is fundamental that Waterford Home Rental’s internal operations run smoothly as the customer experience. Radius Telecom made sure of this.
When asked about the system Sean Dowling (Sales Manager) at Radius Telecom said “Today the best way for a business to future proof their telephony needs is to move to the cloud where functionality and resources are more affordable and accessible.”
