Waterford Healing Arts Trust and Permanent TSB believe the artworks on display in University Hospital Waterford make it a better place for everyone and we would like you to have a say in choosing them. You are invited to go along to the corridor leading to the Outpatients Department and vote for the artist whose work you would like to see in an exhibition later in the year.
WHAT, an arts and health organisation based at University Hospital Waterford, curates a lively programme of temporary exhibitions which offer patients, staff and visitors opportunities to access diverse contemporary art.
The exhibitions also prompt conversations between patients, staff members and visitors that are beyond the medical context. According to one patient of University Hospital Waterford, ‘While struggling with illness and medication, I found the art in the corridors was a healing influence and these dashes of creativity supported me.’
Speaking at the launch of the voting process, Mark McCrory, Regional Manager of Permanent TSB said “It’s lovely to be supporting this initiative which aims to add a little extra to our local hospital. Absolutely delighted to be partnering with this project.”
Acting Arts Director Claire Meaney urges everyone to come to the ‘ballot box’. “We would like to give the choice back to the hospital community, the patients, staff and visitors as to what kind of art they would like to see in the hospital. Out of this vibrant and colourful selection of works, one artist will be given the opportunity to exhibit in this same space. So please come on and take a vote!”
Voting closes on Friday 30 March.
