EAP Institute Seminar 1

New law to random test all those who drive in the course of their work

Driving for work includes any person who drives on the road as part of their work either in a company vehicle or in their own vehicle and receives an allowance from their employer for miles driven and will be subject to random roadside drug testing when a commencement order expected in March 2017 will give effect to the Road Traffic Act 2016.

This Act adds to number of previous road traffic laws. The Road Traffic Act 2011 introduced new drink driving limits and the Road Traffic Act 2014 allowed Gardaí to conduct roadside impairment for intoxicants.
